Fibromyalgia - Yoga for FM sufferers

If you have FM you should not undertake any yoga exercises without consultation with a qualified yoga instructor and you doctor first.

Yoga is an excellent resource for anyone with FM, not only does it gently exercise the body, it energises it too.
Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation make
s you healthier in body, mind and spirit. A gentle class such as Iyengar or Hatha is the best place to start, classes such as Astanga will be too harsh to jump straight into if you have FM. Make sure your yoga teacher is aware of your condition before he or she begins the lesson.

Asanas for Fatigue:

For more advanced practitioners of yoga the headstand may also be used to enliven the body.

Asanas for Headaches:

Pranayama & Meditation
Pranayama refers to the yogic breathing exercises. Some of the exercises can be self-taught from books whilst others are best learned from a "real-live" teacher.
Meditation can be effectively self taught, and has a lot to offer to people who suffer from tiredness and many other fibromyalgiac symtoms. Meditation could accurately be described as the technique of sitting in stillness, stilling the mind and the body. Even as little as five minutes every day can greatly improve anyone's health.
